dangflabbit.

wull shoot.
it's time for a double blog post.

the first song for today is dedicated to the cast of South Pacific at SHS.
Break a lot of legs!
this song is one of my favoritest songs ever.
EVER IN THE HISTORY OF FOREVER.
when a boy wants to marry me, i'll know he's right for me if he plays or sings me this song.
SONG: Some Enchanted Evening
ARTIST: Ezio Pinza
ALBUM: South Pacific

South_Pacific_1105.jpg (420×420)
This is the most beautiful song I've ever heard.
It's about a man seeing a woman from across a room and KNOWING she's his true love.
He never wants to leave her, he never wants to hurt her--he only wants to be with her always. No matter how scared the woman is, the man promises her that he will never hurt her, he will be there for her to protect her, and he will love her forever.

"Some enchanted evening, you may see a stranger.
You may see a stranger across a crowded room.
And somehow you'll know, you'll know even then
That somewhere you'll see her again, and again...
...Once you have found her, never let her go."

The next song of the day is in honor of my friend Julie.
SONG: Two Birds
ARTIST: Regina Spektor
ALBUM: Far
regina_spektor.jpg (468×341)
Regina Spektor is BRILLIANT.
Her lyrics are so unique, and they allude to topics that are important. Her melodies are clever, the words to go along even more so, and she gets me every time. Her lyrics are so unconventional, yet they make so much sense!
I adore her, and all of her songs.
Thanks to Jules for introducing me!!

"Two birds on a wire
One tried to fly away and the other
Watches him close from that wire
He says he wants to as well but he is a liar."

a song i want to sing

I mentioned this in a previous post, but:
Do you ever have a song you just want to SING to someone?
you push them into a seat, get up on a stage, somehow have a band appear miraculously behind you, you are all of a sudden in an amazing dress, looking absolutely ravishing, and then...
you sing.
SONG: Speak Now
ARTIST: Taylor Swift
ALBUM: Speak Now
taylor-swift-speak-now-300x300.jpg (300×300)

I have heard this song before, and I never really noticed it.
I thought it had a nice tune, a classic t-swift number,
but then I really heard it today.
I was with my cousin, and we were driving around, chatting, and she said, "Listen to these lyrics. They'll blow your mind." (as all t-swift lyrics do).
I listened.
Let's just say I was blown away.

"I am not the type of girl
who should be rudely barging in
on a white-veil occasion,
but you are not the kind of boy
who should be marring the wrong girl...
...Don't say yes, run away now
I'll meet you when you're out
of the church by the back door.
Don't wait or say a single vow-
YOu need to hear me out,
And they say, 'Speak now.'"

okay. so.
my situation isn't a wedding,
but it's a situation similar.
someone i care about is making a stupid mistake.
it's one of those, "don't you see how dumb you're being?!?! i'm RIGHT HERE!!!" situations.
they say speak now....what if you're too scared?
what if it doesn't work?
what if it backfires?
what if YOU end up making the mistake?
so many things to keep a person's feelings at bay.

but then again,
who's to say that he won't
"be glad you were around when they say, 'speak now.'"??
think about it.

song(s) of the day

Tsk tsk. I forgot about SOTD yesterdsay....woopsies.
So, to make up for my lack of consistency, I'll add 2!

The first song is one of my favorite songs.
Whenever I listen to it, I can't help but start dancing, and a smile immediately comes to my face.
It reminds me of being a child, sitting in the trunk of my Trooper (car), and reading books in the summer while running errands with my mom. The trooper had a big trunk...no worries, no neglect and/or abuse.

SONG: ABC
ARTIST: Jackson 5
ALBUM: ABC
jackson5.jpg (260×218)

"ABC, easy as 123, simple as do, re, mi; ABC; 123, baby you and me girl"

The next song is from one of my favorite movies.
My friend Paige introduced me to the movie, song, band, everything about this. The fact that I heart this so much, I owe to Paigiepoo.
This song is one of many fabulous songs from the soundtrack to the movie, and I love every single one of them. I'll probably make the rest SOTDs at some point.
SONG: Fallen From The Sky
ALBUM: Once Soundtrack
ARTIST: The Swell Season (Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova)
35261427.jpg (245×270)
"You must've fallen from the sky,
You must've crashed down on the runway.
You brought so many to the light, and now you're by yourself.
There comes a point in every fight
Where giving up seems like the only way
When everyone has said goodbye
And now you're on your own.
If you need somewhere to fall apart
Somewhere to fall apart"
This song is unlike any other song on the album.
The musicality is very...upbeat. There are other upbeat songs in the movie, but they are....very...different. This song has such a fun feel to it, and the music is so unique. These two have the ability to write the most beautiful songs--their lyrics are GENIUS. Listen to it, and you'll see what I mean.

is it cold in here?

This song always pops up in my head at random times.
I was humming it, and then I walked into the bookstore, and BOOM! It was playing!
I was like....the radio and I are experiencing telepathy.
Probably not, but you never know!

SONG: Hot
ARTIST: Avril Lavigne
ALBUM: The Best Damn Thing (heh...damn...)

Avril_lavigne_hot_single.jpg (300×300)

"I wanna lock you up in my closet, where no one's around.
I wanna put your hand in my pocket, because you're allowed.
I want to drive you into a corner, and kiss you without a sound.
I want to stay this way forever, I'll say it loud...
...You make me so hot."

Have you ever felt that way about anyone?
I sure have.
This is so embarrassing, but when I see a toats hottttt guy, this song tends to come on in my head. I know, right?
Creepy.

Can't wait till I find someone who wants to sing this song about me.
Creepy.
What else is new?

let's go to greece!

why hello there.
i'm talking to no one.
oh well.

Today's song was first on my shuffle.

SONG: Part of a Painting
ARTIST: Titus Burgess
ALBUM: Pasek and Paul
titussburgess.jpg (600×400)
Tituss Burgess

JP208-Small-300x200.jpg (300×200)
Pasek and Paul
(composers)

This song is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
I first heard this song in January when Pasek and Paul came to the Utah Theater Association conference in Orem, Utah.
Justin Paul sang it the first time I heard it, and I....died.
Music has a way of touching my heart unlike any other.
This song is about a man who goes to find himself in Greece.
The lyrics paint a picture as beautiful as the coast of Greece.
As the song progresses, it's revealed that the man is writing a letter to the girl he loves. He's not sure how to tell her he loves her because of apprehension, and because he's unsure if he can admit to something so strong.
Listen to this song.
You won't regret it.
It's beautiful.
MOre beautiful than I am.

first

Well hello there.
It's my first Song of the Day, and I couldn't be more ecstatic.
This particular song has been running through my mind alllllll day long.
I absolutely adore it.
The melody and the accompaniment go so well together.
The voices are smooth and relaxing.

SONG: Break Through
ARTIST: Sophie & Tessa Barton
ALBUM: With Love

"I light the candles in my room
I look up to the midnight moon
and I, I think of you...
Why don't you let me in?
Why don't you let me know?
Are we ever gonna try again?
Are you just gonna let me go?..."
